Grave Mercy book review

Hello my lovelies, so today I'm going to do another review of a book.....whoa didn't see that coming :) I read the book both in German and English but the book cover you will see ,is in German, but that's fine because the title is the same in both languages.

This is the first book out of three from Robin LaFevers and I truly loved it. It's a mixture of fantasy, romance and intrigues. What I liked the most was the time it played in. I really like fantasy novels that are in a complete different century. This story took place in the 15th century in Brittany, which was very interesting to read. There are lots of intrigues by people in the story you haven't thought of and more than once you will have to read a page two times because you can't believe what it says.
The romantic part is well written so it doesn't sound cheesy at all.(As you may know this I'm not a particular lover of cheesy books ...sorry) The main character Ismae is a very mentally strong girl  and she really start to grow on you. She transitions into an independent women who can take care of herself and who doesn't need to be taken care of.
Til the end there's a breathtaking story which I enjoyed and it was a pleasure to witness every moment of it.If you like books that are a mixture of history,romance and fantasy then this is the right story for you. I definitely look forward to reading the following books in this triology. But I must warn you: the three books are all in three different point of views of different girls in the convent who go on different journeys. So the following book isn't really attached to the story of this book. It will have elements of the old story but it's not 'the same'. With that being said I'm giving it 4.5 out of 5 cupcakes.
