"The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg" book review
Dying of a broken heart is just the beginning.... Welcome to forever.
Brie's life ends at sixteen: Her boyfriend tells her he doesn't love her, and the news breaks her heart—literally.
But now that she's D&G (dead and gone), Brie is about to discover that love is way more complicated than she ever imagined. Back in Half Moon Bay, her family has begun to unravel. Her best friend has been keeping a secret about Jacob, the boy she loved and lost—and the truth behind his shattering betrayal. And then there's Patrick, Brie's mysterious new guide and resident Lost Soul . . . who just might hold the key to her forever after.
With Patrick's help, Brie will have to pass through the five stages of grief before she's ready to move on. But how do you begin again, when your heart is still in pieces?

Ok, I'm not going to lie when I read the back of this book, the description was more than cheesy, like really..... dying of a broken heart? But I began to love this book. I loved this book till the very end and I still love it now. You just have to read it. I mean the whole storyline is just out of this world. To take a disease that millions of girls and guys suffer from and to transform it into a cause of death.... who would have thought of that?
This is not your typical cutesie romance smoochie smooch kisses romance novel. This is original and extemly funny! I laughed so many times and I cried and I got angry. This was just a hurricane of mixed emotions.
Ok, so the story doesn't begin with Brie's beginning it actually starts with her death. But it goes back in the past to give the reader a better view of the situation. And there are chapters but they are in sections. I'm not going to say too much but these are stages that Brie is going through that Patrick introduces her to. Patrick is a 17-year old teenage boy that helps Brie to get through everything FYI: he is also dead. But as the story carries on you realize that Patrick is sooo much more than someone Brie just met. This story honestly had so many plot twist I had to close this book only to check if I was still alive. You also discover why Jacob broke Brie's heart. In the beginning you hate him and when Brie tortures him you're cheering, but when you discover the truth you really feel bad.
Also the amount of cheese jokes that were in this book, because of Brie's name were soo hilarious.
In the beginning of every chapter was a line of a song lyrics. Most of the songs were from the 80s. And you might not know this about me , but I'm an absolute super-doooper fan of the 80s. One more reason to love this book. This book is not only LOL-worthy or nice to read, it actually makes you think about life and about the people you love. Bravo Jess Rothenberg. Standing Ovation. This will always be one of my favourites. Thank you!!!!
