Delirium

Last review for today and probably for a few weeks. I'm moving tomorrow, out of the country actually and where I'm moving school starts on monday , so I first have to settle down before I'm able to review anything. I hope you can understand that :)

The "Delirium by Lauren Oliver" book review

They say that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever. And I've always believed them. Until now.
Now everything has changed. Now I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie..........................................................................................................................
I actually heard so much about Lauren Oliver. Yet I have never read one of ther novels. But then I came across this book and just by reading the back of the book I wanted to eat and drink the content of this book. This storyline is amazing, out of this world, this is so sick I can't even.....Sorry but I think that Lauren is a real genius, who comes up with these ideas?
Ok, so Lena, short for Magdalena lives with her aunt and her uncle and their children. Her father was taken away when she was very little and her mother killed herself. Because of the disease. The disease is amor deliria nervosa and that means that love is an actual disease. If you fall in love with anyone, you are infected. When you turn eighteen you get a procedure done that makes you immune, I guess the part of the brain that controls emotions will be cut out. After that you don't love, you just live this life without emotions. Before you get this procedure done you get tested. And your test results will decide what kind of life you will live. You will be married to someone who has about the same results as you have and who has the same interests. You then have children....etc.. Of course there are the people who don't want to do this procedure. They are the Invalids. They live out in the wild and they normally organise protests against the procedure. Lena doesn't want to end like her mother, so she is very eager to get healed. But then she meets Alex. He is an Invalid and he shows her what she will be missing out on if she has this "operation". They fall in love and they even plan on running away together, but then something goes horribly wrong.......
I'm not going to say too much, but the ending is horrible, it's not badly written or anything, it just really killed me. And like always in a trilogy it's a cliffhanger. Why???? I'm so eager to read the next two books. Like I said the storyline is just absolutely, magnificent. And at every beginning of every chapter there is this quote from books that describe what amor deliria nervosa is, what the symtoms are or all the damage it can cause. I also liked the way Lena developed as the story continued. At first she was this shy girl, that was self-conscious and that wanted nothing to do with love, but she transformed into this girl that wants more of life , that finds herself beautiful and that thinks that love can destroy but it can also be so wonderful. I highly recommend this book to you. It was such a good read and I'm so excited to see how the story continues.

The 100#3

The "Homecoming by Kess Morgan" book review (The 100 #3)

Weeks after landing on Earth, the Hundred have managed to create a sense of order amidst their wild, chaotic surroundings. But their delicate balance comes crashing down with the arrival of new dropships from space.
These new arrivals are the lucky ones—back on the Colony, the oxygen is almost gone—but after making it safely to Earth, GLASS’s luck seems to be running out. CLARKE leads a rescue party to the crash site, ready to treat the wounded, but she can’t stop thinking about her parents, who may still be alive. Meanwhile, WELLS struggles to maintain his authority despite the presence of the Vice Chancellor and his armed guards, and BELLAMY must decide whether to face or flee the crimes he thought he’d left behind.
.............................................................................................................................................................................
I think that Kass Morgan has become my favourite author of young adult science fiction books. I seriously cannot say that any book in this trilogy was bad or made you hate this series. It's the opposite. With every book I loved the series a bit more. Every book was unique but it still had the same structure and it started where the other book left off. This time the story begins with a disaster, because all of the dropships crashed and not so many people survived. Wells realizes that his father is still in a coma on the spaceship and he knows he will never see him again. This is also sad for Bellamy, because as we learned earlier: Well's dad had an affair with Bellamy's mum. As the former 100 try to help the victims of this accident the chancellor and his guards take control of the whole camp. Bellamy gets caught and because he accidently shot his dad in the first book he is sentenced to death. Clarke, Wells and Bellamy manage to escape to the village of Sasha, but they soon realize that they can't get away from the chancellor without destroying him. Meanwhile Glass and Luke are all alone on earth and one event makes Glass the one that has to rescue Luke. There were lots of sad parts in this book, but also a lot of happy and romantic parts. I will seriously ship #Bellarke forever. Clarke may find her parents.....there may be an epic battle ......the ending may be beautiful af......I may have cried happy tears, but I'm not going to give spoilers. There was even more action, heartbreak and adrenaline in this book than in any of the books in this trilogy. I loved it and I'm so sad that this ended, but I'm also so happy that I got to read this.

The 100 #2

The "Day 21 by Kess Morgan" book review (The 100#2)

No one has set foot on Earth in centuries -- until now.
It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other Colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself .....................................................................................................................................................................
The sequel continued at the point where the first book ended. I liked this because I didn't have the feeling I missed an important part and I didn't need any time to get into the book. The way the first book was written carried on with this book , which I really liked as you might know if you have read the review, of the last book, that I wrote. In the last book the space ship didn't have enough oxygen anymore, so they shut the gate between the Phoenix and the two not so wealthy ships, Arcadia and Walden. This is actually  Well's fault, because he destroyed the thing that kept the oxygen inside the space ship. He did it to save Clarke and I love him for that, but I also hate him, because think of all the innocent people that might have to die because of him. Glass escaped and made her way to the Walden. The place where Luke lives, together they want to open the gates to save the people. Meanwhile on the earth the group imprisons a teenage girl named Sasha that has lived on the earth with her people before anyone. Pretty soon Wells discovers that Sasha is not evil and she even shows Wells, Clarke and Bellamy her village. But there is also a group of people that has seperated from the village and they don't want any humans from the space ship to live. Bellamy is scared that Octavia was taken by them and he does anything to find her. Meanwhile Clarke discovers that her parents might be alive. I think I loved this book a bit more than the first one because this is the book of the truth and because of #Bellarke and #Washa ! There are so many surprises at the end and  Clarke tells Bellamy about the experiments of her parents and Glass tells Luke, why his best-friend was really killed. And of course the end is in a cliffhanger just like the first book because the people of the space ship come home.....

All the light we cannot see

I hope you will enjoy the next few reviews ;)

The "All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr" book review

Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.
In a mining town in Germany, the orphan Werner grows up with his younger sister, enchanted by a crude radio they find. Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments, a talent that wins him a place at a brutal academy for Hitler Youth, then a special assignment to track the resistance. More and more aware of the human cost of his intelligence, Werner travels through the heart of the war and, finally, into Saint-Malo, where his story and Marie-Laure’s converge.
................................................................................................................
This is the second book, that I've read this summer that had the perspective of the French in World War II. I liked that very much, but overall it was pretty hard in the beginning to continue reading this book. More than once I wanted to put it down and I had to force myself to keep reading. This was proven to be a good choice because after a few chapters I started enjoying the story.
If you start reading this you have to know, that this is not a book you can read in a day. It requires your attention and you have to understand it.

I liked the way the chapters were sectioned. They were usually about three to four pages long. The chapters were in a section and this section was titled with a date. So the story kept going on between past and present and as the story continued, past and present started to combine.
At the beginning there was the point of view of Marie-Laure and Werner, but it was told in a third person narration. But as the story continued more perspectives joined the story.
I'm not going to say too much about the plot. If I would, this will be a very long review. But at first there are these two seperate worlds of Marie-Laure and Werner. Marie-Laure is blind and lives with her dad. She loves reading and she is very interested in the sea world. Werner is an orphan boy that lives in an orphanage with his sister. He is very talented in repairing electronic devices and he is very skilled in math and physics. It actually takes forever till both Werner and Marie meet in person. And it's pretty much at the end of the book, but they have met each other before, they just don't know it yet. In the end Werner  rescues Marie from a man, that wanted something that her father had been hiding for a long time. And when he rescuses her you think, that they will have a happy ending just because they would be such a cute couple and also because you have waited so long for something to happen between these two. But NOOO this book has a very sad ending. I couldn't  cry. Even my tears were shocked.....Ok, besides the ending I liked the book. It was interesting, educational and good to read but I have to say that I had pretty high expectations when I started reading this story. Booktube, bookinstagram and goodreads have been  buzzing about this book for so long and I thought it would be a very good read, if everybody made such a big fuzz about it. I was a bit disappointed. This is still a good book, but as I mentioned earlier it was hard to continue reading sometimes. I liked the storyline and I liked the characters. War makes a person do things they don't usually do in real life and even if some of the characters changed and did pretty stupid things, I still liked them , because I imagined how they would be like in a world without war.

The SPOLAFS ;)

Last review for today .........enjoy ;)

The "Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith"book review

Four minutes changes everything. Hadley Sullivan ,17 misses her flight at JFK airport, is late to her father's second wedding in London with never-met stepmother. Hadley meets the perfect boy. Oliver is British, sits in her row. A long night on the plane passes in a blink, but the two lose track in arrival chaos. Can fate bring them together again?...................................................................................................
Ok, so this is a cutesie romance book. I don't know why I have been reading so many contemporary books lately. Maybe because it's summer, maybe because I need them, so I won't suffer of a book slump. I don't know. I was really pumped to read this book, I mean it sounded like a math problem but also like a really nice feel-good book. I liked the storyline. Boy and girl meet in a plane. Then they lose track of eachother. The girl has problems with her family, because her dad is getting married to another woman and the boys has much bigger problems with his dad....not giving away spoilers...............Although I liked the plot, I wasn't feeling it. I normally have like an endless high when  I read this kinds of books. They fix my soul after it has been torn apart by a fantasy novel. But this book did nothing. Maybe I had a bad day or something.....but yeah. But I think I will try to read more books of Jennifer E. Smith.
I'm sorry if this is really short and if you liked this book I'm sorry if this is an unsatisfying book review, but I've said it once and I will say it again. When I have read a book that I did not enjoy I normally don't have much to say about it.

Legend

Next reviews....I hope you enjoy ;)

The "Legend by Marie Lu" book review

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

I finally started to read one of Marie Lu's books. For months I kept telling myself I should start reading them...and I did. Well one of them. And I really liked it! At first I was pretty confused, because there's not really an introduction of the situation but as you continue reading the story you start to figure out everything. Due to the book being a dystopian young adult fiction, readers of the Hunger Games, Divergent or perhaps even the 100 would love to read this book. It explores social and political structures that might even become reality. There's the poor part of town and of course the wealthy part of town.
June lives in the wealthier part of town, she is a prodigy because she has passed the test every child has to take as a ten-year old with a total score of 1500 points.Which makes her the only one who has ever passed the test with such a high test score. She is being raised by her brother due to the sudden death of her parents.
Day is a criminal that should have been killed due to his low test results. Because that's what happens to those who score any lower than 1000. Yet he has survived. He is the most wanted criminal in his country. Yet he only steals stuff to keep his family and himself alive. He has never killed anyone. But on one particular day he breaks into the hospital to steal medicine for his little brother who has been infected with a virus and during his escape he kills Metias, June's brother. June wants the murderer of her broher to suffer and she thinks it's her duty to seek revenge. When her mission is accomplished  she finds out that her brother was killed by someone else. She also discovers that the death of ther parents wasn't an accident and she realizes that the Republic has been lying all along. She and Day have to find a way to escape......will they make it....????

Dammm...dammm ....dammmm I really loved the book , it was full of action, love , secrets, surprises...etc. I like the constant change of point of views. I don't like it when a book is only told in one perspective, that's just plain boring. But this was refreshing. I didn't like June at first because of her opinion of things but I learned to like her because she has developed soo much as the story continued. I also like the fact that both, June and Day  are 15. Most characters of young adult fiction books are from 16 to 20 years old. This was something different. I'm looking forward to reading the next books in this series soon !

The Catastrophic History of You and Me

Last review for today....enjoyyyyyy!!!!

"The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg" book review

Dying of a broken heart is just the beginning.... Welcome to forever.
Brie's life ends at sixteen: Her boyfriend tells her he doesn't love her, and the news breaks her heart—literally.
But now that she's D&G (dead and gone), Brie is about to discover that love is way more complicated than she ever imagined. Back in Half Moon Bay, her family has begun to unravel. Her best friend has been keeping a secret about Jacob, the boy she loved and lost—and the truth behind his shattering betrayal. And then there's Patrick, Brie's mysterious new guide and resident Lost Soul . . . who just might hold the key to her forever after.
With Patrick's help, Brie will have to pass through the five stages of grief before she's ready to move on. But how do you begin again, when your heart is still in pieces?

.............................................................................................................................................................................
Ok, I'm not going to lie when I read the back of this book, the description was more than cheesy, like really..... dying of a broken heart? But I began to love this book. I loved this book till the very end and I still love it now. You just have to read it. I mean the whole storyline is just out of this world. To take a disease that millions of girls and guys suffer from and to transform it into a cause of death.... who would have thought of that?
This is not your typical cutesie romance smoochie smooch kisses romance novel. This is original and extemly funny! I laughed so many times and I cried and I got angry. This was just a hurricane of mixed emotions.
Ok, so the story doesn't begin with Brie's beginning it actually starts with her death. But it goes back in the past to give the reader a better view of the situation. And there are chapters but they are in sections. I'm not going to say too much but these are stages that Brie is going through that Patrick introduces her to. Patrick is a 17-year old teenage boy that helps Brie to get through everything FYI: he is also dead. But as the story carries on you realize that Patrick is sooo much more than someone Brie just met. This story honestly had so many plot twist I had to close this book only to check if I was still alive. You also discover why Jacob broke Brie's heart. In the beginning you hate him and when Brie tortures him you're cheering, but when you discover the truth you really feel bad.
Also the amount of cheese jokes that were in this book, because of Brie's name were soo hilarious.
In the beginning of every chapter was a line of a song lyrics. Most of the songs were from the 80s. And you might not know this about me , but I'm an absolute super-doooper fan of the 80s. One more reason to love this book. This book is not only LOL-worthy or nice to read, it actually makes you think about life and about the people you love. Bravo Jess Rothenberg. Standing Ovation. This will always be one of my favourites. Thank you!!!!
